IEEE International Conference on Sensing, Communication and Networking
10-13 June 2019 // Boston, Massachusetts, USA

The 16th annual IEEE SECON conference will provide a unique forum to exchange innovative research ideas, recent results, and share experiences among researchers and practitioners in wireless networks, mobile systems and the Internet of Things (IoT). The focus of IEEE SECON 2019 especially aims at showcasing systems research, experimentation, hands on evaluations, and cross-disciplinary wireless research dealing with pioneering work at the intersection of wireless and parallel disciplinary areas (e.g., new devices, physics, biology, computing, etc.).

IEEE SECON 2019 will hold a full day of workshops on Monday 10 June 2019, that will be co-located with the main conference at Boston’s Northeastern University. The goal of the workshops is to provide a forum for researchers to discuss early research results and share experiences on specific topics that are more focused than those of the general conference.

Topics for workshops may include, but should not be limited to, the following:

  • Blockchain technologies for networking
  • Alternative communication technologies, such as NFC, visible light and underwater communication
  • Machine Learning for networking
  • Multi-access Edge Computing
  • Novel applications: Cyber-physical systems, IoT, distributed mobile computing
  • Security, privacy, and trustworthiness of mobile, wireless and sensor systems
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) for mobile and wireless networks as well as 5G, small cells, etc.
  • Vehicular networks and connected vehicles; robotic wireless networks
  • Wearable computing, including sensing and processing of human data
  • Wireless and mobile sensing systems and networks
  • Wireless health
  • Testbeds and platforms for advanced wireless research

The workshops should target the March-April timeframe for paper submissions with acceptance notifications approximately one month later, and the camera-ready version of accepted papers due no later than 1 May 2019.

Please include the following information in your workshop proposal:

  1. A draft call for papers (as complete as possible), which should include:
    1. Motivations, aims and rationale for the workshop
    2. Names and affiliations of workshop organizers
    3. Tentative composition of the technical program committee
  2. Workshop details:
    1. Workshop title
    2. Proponent’s name, institution and bio sketch
    3. Motivations & background
    4. Contribution format (short / long papers, demo session, panels, poster session, etc.)
    5. Workshop deadlines (internal & external)
    6. Expected number of submissions / accepted papers and (if known) participants
    7. Workshop promotion (how you will publicize the event)
    8. Prior history of the workshop, if any (including # of submissions, # of accepted papers, and # of attendees)

Workshop organizers should e-mail their single-file PDF proposal to the Workshop Chair by Wednesday 16 January 2019 (please use [IEEE SECON2019] Submission of Workshop proposal–“proposer_last_name” as the email subject).

Notification of workshop acceptance will be by Wednesday 23 January 2019.
